Website Aftercare Plans
Aftercare allows for us to assist you in the day-to-day usage of your website CMS and any minor amends to your site that you want us to manage on your behalf.
Aftercare is bought in advance in blocks of 4 hours or more.
This gives you the ability to use service hours in smaller chunks and without the need to raise purchse orders for each individual request.
Just send your request to the support desk, we'll give you a rough estimate of the time wherever possible and update you with the balance of time remaining at the end of the task.
Scope of service:
The following activities are covered under the aftercare service
- Adding or editing text & images to your website
- Ongoing training or assistance for users of the Shine CMS
- Design & campaign management of marketing emails
- Liaison with other suppliers
- Issue resolution (bugfixing) if no maintenance contract is in place
- CMS Upgrades
- Amends to the site design, structure or layout
- Installation and testing of updates to your CMS
Marketing consultancy, and bespoke PHP / ASP.net development is excluded from aftercare and is typically delivered as minimum 1 day projects. We will let you know if your project requires these skills.
How aftercare is managed:

All time spent will be accurately timed and reported. Any work which will go over the allocated time for your aftercare package will first be approved with you and taken from the following months time allocation.
There is no minimum contract length and no notice period to end the contract, but aftercare fees are non-refundable and will expire one calendar month after you leave the programme.
The aftercare package is in addition to your website hosting or maintenance agreements.
Aftercare is only available to sites developed and hosted by Shine Marketing.

Website Maintenance
Website Maintenance is put in place to keep your site running as smoothly as the day it was launched.
Your website maintenance covers the following activity:
- Monitoring your site from a remote location to check that the homepage remains visible
- Monitoring internal processses on the server (webserver, database server & network connections
- Bug fixes which may only appear after the site has had some considerable use
- Ensuring emails from the webserver get through to your own email servers
- Website outages caused by our own servers
- Nightly backups of your site for disaster recovery purposes
The cost of your website maintenance contract is usually charged as a percentage of the overall development cost of the project, then reviewed every 6 months to make sure that it is roughly in line with the amount of time spent on your site given the number of editors you may have, how busy the site is, and the complexity of any developments you may have added after launch.

About Our Servers
Shine's servers are dedicated to our clients, we are strict about our terms of use and the usage of resources is closely managed to avoid peaks from one client causing problems for others.
Our servers are high quality HP Blade chassis running 2x Quad-core Xeon processors with 8Gb RAM.
Disk drives are run in RAID arrays to ensure no data loss even in the event of failure of one of the drives.
Multiple services including the Apache web server, database server and 20 other services are monitored with the majority of issues being cured by automatic restart.
We also monitor the servers from 2 remote locations on a 15 minute cycle
The server farm is manned 24/7 to react to any failure of the hardware or network
Backups
Nightly backups are taken across all accounts for disaster recovery purposes

Website hosting does not include the provision of email mailboxes or support of your local IT infrastructure to receive emails.
